Manchester is blue after Manchester City cruised to a 3-nil win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated Erik ten Hag’s outfit as they look back to their imperious best. Here are the City player ratings from a derby day romp for Manchester City.
City player ratings:
Ederson- 7/10: One massive save from Scott McTominay just before half-time to preserve City’s lead. Rarely called upon after that as City dominated.
Kyle Walker-8/10: Walker was a brick wall at right back. Never beaten and offered a threat when City had possession.
Ruben Dias- 7/10: The usual professional performance from Dias. Not a lot to do but was tidy when called upon.
John Stones- 8/10: Absolutely brilliant at the back and in midfield. Is almost as important as Rodri to Pep Guardiola’s side. Fantastic performance.
Josko Gvardiol- 7/10: It was a nervous start from the Croatian and gave away possession a few times early on. Grew into the game with a typical Gvardiol performance.
Rodri- 8/10: Dominated midfield with a fantastic all-round performance. No surprise City have returned to form with Rodri back in the lineup.
Bernardo Silva- 9/10: Paired with Grealish on City’s left-hand side and put in a massive shift. Set up Haaland’s second with a precise assist.
Jack Grealish- 8/10: Is back to his best and terrorised the United defence before being substituted. Validated Pep’s decision to start him with a near man-of-the-match performance.
Phil Foden- 8/10: Grew into the game after a few misplaced passes in the first half. Was rewarded with a goal for his hard work.
Julian Alvarez- 7/10: The usual busy performance from the World Cup winner. Was a constant threat and oozed quality in possession.
Erling Haaland- 9/10: A brace and an assist for Haaland. On another day he could’ve had 3/4. Is starting to grow into the season.
Substitutes:
Mateo Kovacic- N/A: not on long enough to mark.
Jeremy Doku- N/A: not on long enough to mark.
