Manchester City continue to have interest in signing West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta it has been reported. The European champions were linked with a move for the Brazilian international during the summer transfer window. City’s move for Paqueta collapsed after the West Ham player became the subject of a betting investigation.
Jacque Talbot reports for footballtransfers.com that the treble winners have maintained their interest in Paqueta. Talbot further reports that City won’t make a move for the midfielder until the betting investigation is concluded. He also adds that there is hope that a deal could be concluded next year for the talented Brazilian playmaker to move to the Etihad.

In addition to City maintaining their interest in Paqueta Talbot adds that a £80 million deal was agreed in principle between City and West Ham in the summer. The subsequent betting investigation scuppered the move and the Premier League champions signed Matheus Nunes from Wolves on the final day of the transfer window.
Pep Guardiola’s side may be in the market for another midfielder in January. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Kalvin Phillips is likely to leave the club for more first-team opportunities. Whether or not West Ham would sell one of their key players in January remains to be seen. It is also unclear if the betting investigation into Lucas Paqueta would be concluded by then either.
