Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney reviews Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Brighton in the video below. City returned to winning ways after back-to-back losses in the Premier League.
It was a game of two halves as City dominated the first half and led through goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland. Brighton came back into it in the second half and made a game of it and made City fight for the 2-1 win.
For the treble winners, Jeremy Doku put in a dazzling display out wide. He set up the opening goal for Julian Alvarez and could have scored a couple himself. Doku has adapted to life at the Etihad well since arriving in the summer from Rennes.
There was also a welcome return to the starting lineup for John Stones. The England international had only recently returned from injury. He made his first start of the season against Brighton. Stones showed exactly what the treble winners had been missing before he was substituted in the second half.
Erling Haaland was back amongst the goals after failing to score in his previous three starts for City. City’s number 9 put in a fantastic shift up top and silenced his recent critics with a quality finish.
