Could Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain both leave Manchester City in the summer of 2025? Lu Martin speaking to El Bar de Sique on Carrusel Deportivo believes Guardiola and Begiristain will leave the European champions at the end of Guardiola’s current contract. His current deal expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Martin has told Carrusel Deportivo he believes Pep will not sign another contract extension with Manchester City. He said: “The problem for Manchester City is that in two years Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain will leave… I think Guardiola’s cycle will end when his contract ends. The cycle ends when the contract ends, he will not renew… The players who finish their contract will then have to decide if they leave or if they stay with the new one manager.”
Lu Martin is one of the most respected journalists regarding news involving Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. Guardiola leaving City isn’t a thought City fans want to entertain at this stage.
If Martin’s report is correct, one possible replacement for Pep is Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi. James Ducker of the Telegraph has reported that Guardiola believes De Zerbi is the right man to replace him. Ducker added that Pep told three Brighton players: “That’s the next Man City manager.”
Guardiola has been consistent in his praise of Roberto De Zerbi. The City boss has previously said that the Italian has been one of the most influential managers in the past twenty years.
While Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain leaving Manchester isn’t on the immediate horizon, it is still a sobering thought for Manchester City fans. But it does appear that the club will be prepared for when Pep and Txiki eventually leave the club.
