A transfer battle between Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United looms for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz it has been reported. The young attacking midfielder is one of the top young talents in the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen could potentially cash in on Wirtz this summer according to reports.
Spanish publication Sport reports that Leverkusen may cash in on Wirtz next summer. Sport adds that the Bundesliga club would command a fee in the region of €85 million for the talented playmaker. Furthermore, they add that Barcelona can’t afford to sanction a bid for Wirtz. In addition to Barcelona being out of the race for Wirtz, they add that Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle are monitoring the situation with Wirtz.
Kerry Hau of Sport1 has added that Bayern Munich are also keen to sign Wirtz. Hau adds that the Bundesliga champions are keen to pair Wirtz with wonderkid Jamal Musiala. The pair have formed a lethal combination in midfield for Germany.
Steve Kay of Football Transfers reported during the summer that Manchester City were interested in signing Wirtz as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez. In addition to City’s interest in Wirtz Kay added that Pep Guardiola is a known admirer of the midfielder.
