City’s players return to training ahead of this weekend’s clash with Brighton

Manchester City’s players have returned to training ahead of this weekend’s visit of Brighton. City’s players had been busy over the international break with most of the squad playing key roles for their countries.

In positive news for Pep Guardiola, there are no injury concerns besides Kevin De Bruyne. De Bruyne remains out until the New Year as he recovers from hamstring surgery.

John Stones started his first game since the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal in midweek. The defender got through 63 minutes for England in their crucial 3-1 win over Italy. With Stones now back amongst the City squad, the champions have a full squad to choose from besides De Bruyne. Rodri will also be available for selection after serving his three-game suspension before the international break.

City’s English contingent weren’t pictured at training as they played against Italy in the Three Lions crucial win the night before. Also not present were Ederson and Julian Alvarez as they return to Manchester from South America after World Cup qualifying duty with Brazil and Argentina respectively.

The treble winners return to Premier League duty this weekend with a visit to the Etihad from Brighton. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to halt a two-game losing streak in the Premier League. City have lost their past two games to Wolves and Arsenal before the international break.

The treble winners face a crucial 6 game stretch before the next international break. Following Brighton, the European champions are in Champions League action and then face crucial fixtures against Manchester United, Bournemouth and Chelsea before the next round of internationals.
