International round up as Manchester City players again in action overnight

Manchester City players were again in action overnight during the European Championship qualifiers. Rico Lewis also featured for the England under-21 side in their 3-2 loss to the Ukraine.

For Portugal City’s Ruben Dias started as they romped to a 5-nil win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was a quiet night at the back for Dias. The Portuguese dominated the game from the outset and ended the game by halftime. They had a 5-nil lead at the break and they cruised to a solid victory. Bernardo Silva was an unused substitute in the win.

For the Netherlands, Nathan Ake started in their crucial 1-nil win over Greece. The Dutch were made to work for the win, with a 93rd-minute Virgil Van Dijk penalty enough for Holland to secure a vital three points. Ake was solid at the back in the vital win. The win means Holland hold their Euro 24 qualifying destiny in their hands heading into next month’s round of matches.

Jeremy Doku was an unused substitute in Belgium’s postponed game with Sweden. The score was tied at 1-all at half-time before the game was postponed due to a serious security incident that happened pre-game.

Rico Lewis got through 90 minutes and played well in England under-21’s 3-2 loss to the Ukraine. The game was England’s third in Group F of the UEFA under-21 European Championship Qualifiers. The loss means that Ukraine top the group over England in second place.

The young City midfielder started in midfield and put in a polished display for England. Lewis was his energetic self and did his job as England lost their first game of their under-21 qualifying campaign.

All of the Manchester City players involved will now head back to Manchester for the resumption of domestic football this weekend.
