Erling Haaland scores twice for Norway as City stars were in action overnight

Erling Haaland scored twice for Norway overnight as a host of Manchester City stars were in action overnight. It was a busy night of internationals with several key Manchester City players featuring for their countries.

Haaland netted twice for Norway in their 4-nil win over Cyprus. It was a welcome return to goal-scoring form for City’s number 9 and his goals helped his country remain in touch with Scotland and Spain in Group A of the Euro 24 qualifying stage.

Oscar Bobb made his international debut for Norway coming off the bench in the second half. He helped set up Norway’s 4th goal of the night.

Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic both started for Croatia as they went down 1-nil to Turkiye. Gvardiol got through the full 90 minutes for his country. Kovacic played for 80 minutes before being substituted. Croatia’s loss saw Turkey jump them into first place in Group D, but Croatia have a game in hand.

Manchester City’s midfield general Rodri got through the full 90 minutes as Spain beat Scotland 2-nil. The Manchester City midfielder put in a polished display in a game Spain dominated. The game wasn’t without controversy as Scott McTominay had a goal ruled for Scotland due to VAR. Spain now only trails Scotland by three points in Group A with a game in hand as the qualifying race for Euro 24 heats up.

And the last of the City stars in action was Rico Lewis who shone for the England under-21 side in their 9-1 win over Serbia. Lewis provided two assists and put in a energetic display for the England under-21 side.
