Will Oscar Bobb get his first City start against Newcastle?

With Manchester City in Carabao Cup action tonight, will Oscar Bobb get his first start for Manchester City against Newcastle? Bobb has already made his first Premier League and Champions League appearances for the club this season. Tonight’s game may be the perfect chance for Bobb to play from the start.

With Pep Guardiola’s squad having several key players injured and others in need of rest the game does appear tailor-made for Bobb to start. The City Academy graduate has made three cameo appearances so far this season. He has shown the tremendous ability he has in the brief cameos he has been given.

City’s young Norwegian has stated his goal of following in his famous teammate’s footsteps. Following his Champions League debut last week Bobb said: “Jack Grealish with what he’s doing for the club in the past couple of seasons, Jeremy Doku for what he did in France and Phil Foden – he’s been one of the best young players in the world for the past three or four years so it’s big footsteps to follow but it’s a big motivation.”

With Oscar Bobb keen to make an impact at the treble winners, his chance to start may come soon. The Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle could provide the youngster the perfect platform to grow into his first-team career. City fans’ eyes will turn to Pep Guardiola’s team sheet to see if the young Norwegian does get his first start for the first team.

If that chance doesn’t come against Newcastle it will only be a matter of time for Bobb before he does finally start for the treble winners.
