Nunes gets his first start as Man City line up to face Red Star Belgrade

Manchester City begin their campaign to defend their European Champions crown tonight. The Blues will host Red Star Belgrade at the Etihad, for the first time as Champions of Europe – “we know what we are”.

Following a fantastic win at the weekend, there are no major surprises in Guardiola’s starting line up.

He has gone strong, which illustrates again how seriously he takes each opponent.

During a challenge at West Ham which saw the Blues bounce back from going one down, there were some standout performances.

One of which was from newcomer, Nunes. He will make his first start for Manchester City against Red Star Belgrade.

The Portuguese impressed during his cameo at the London Stadium, with his passing ability on display along with some defence defying runs.

A slight surprise to see Gomez amongst the starting line up. While there is room for development defensively, he has been impressive in attack. Considering the opposition, we could expect to see him in a more advanced position.

The starting line up:

Alvarez also maintains his place in the starting line up after a Man of the Match performance at the weekend. Dictating the play, he is a creator; everything he touches turns to gold – and goals.

Despite injuries to key players, there is enough quality in the squad to get the job done tonight.

Come on you Blues!
