Kyle Walker says Manchester City are ready to defend their Champions League crown

Manchester City are ready to go again on the back of last season’s UEFA Champions League triumph. Speaking on the eve of the treble winners UEFA Champions League Group G opener Kyle Walker has sent a warning to clubs coming to claim Manchester City’s European crown.

When asked about how the treble winners were tackling the challenge of backing up from last season’s success Walker told the assembled media: “Our flag will always be at the top because we have won the Premier League and Champions League but to go again is what separates the good teams from the great teams. The hunger is still definitely in the changing room and the manager still wants to win more. You can see what he is like in games and training. He doesn’t settle

One of 5 Manchester City leaders for the season, Kyle Walker also spoke of the desire amongst the players to drive themselves. He explained: “We have an incredible mentality in the players. Managers can make beautiful speeches that go on TikTok but it doesn’t work like that. Everyone has to find himself to become better. I’m a little bit surprised that after all the years, the Treble… this shows the team is really good.”

With the players and Pep Guardiola driving the standards, Manchester City have started the Premier League season in ominous form. With 5 wins from 5 to start the league season, Pep’s squad will come into the Champions League opener against Red Star Belgrade full of confidence. They will also be determined to send a message to the rest of their group that they are hungry to defend their crown.

Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League quest begins on Tuesday night at the Etihad as they seek to defend their title.
