Matheus Nunes is settling in quickly to life at Manchester City

New Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes is settling in quickly to life at the Etihad. Having arrived at the club on the transfer window deadline day, Nunes made his debut off the bench in Saturday’s win over West Ham.

Speaking with mancity.com following City’s fifth consecutive win of the season,  the Portuguese international said he had adjusted quickly to life at the treble winners. He said: “It’s been very good – everybody has been very friendly to me and helping me settle in as quick as I can. It’s only going to get better. We just have to work the same way as always and keep going and keep building the confidence.”

Matheus Nunes made an impression off the bench in his debut for the club. He replaced Phil Foden in midfield midway through the second half. He showed poise when in possession, and his ability to carry the ball was on display. It was Nunes gut-busting run that created space for Erling Haaland to fire home City’s third goal of the game to seal the three points.

If Matheus Nunes’s cameo appearance against West Ham is a sign of things to come, he will be another shrewd signing for Manchester City. He appears to have the quality and class necessary to become a key component of Pep Guardiola’s squad.

With the UEFA Champions League kicking off this week, and the Carabao Cup in between City’s Premier League games, the fact that Matheus Nunes is settling into life at the Etihad is a positive one.
