Rodri says the hunger remains at Manchester City to back up last season’s treble

Manchester City’s midfield general Rodri has said the hunger remains for the treble winners to repeat last season’s treble-winning success. After such a massive high last season, the European champions have started this season with 4 wins from 4 and claimed the UEFA Super Cup.

Speaking with mancity.com Rodri spoke of the hunger with the City squad to back up from last season. He said: “I think in football you have to come back because you have new goals coming. Of course, we have the good memories from last season, but we want to do it again. We have a structure, a team and a project to do it again and have more success. It is something you see in the team, that hunger to do it again. Whenever you have goals, it is the engine of life. We have new goals this season and we want to do it again.”

City’s Spanish midfielder has been crucial to the club’s recent dominance of domestic and European football. He has become arguably the best midfielder in world football during his spell at the Etihad. He has started this season in a similar vein of form as he and his teammates look to repeat last season’s heroics.

With the hunger to succeed again driving the players, and Pep Guardiola at the helm the treble winners have started the season with a determined mindset. Winning their opening 4 games of the Premier League season is a strong marker to set for what comes.

As the games ramp up with the UEFA Champions League kicking off this week, and the Premier League continuing City’s mindset will be a crucial weapon in their armory.
