Manchester City’s English contingent and Jeremy Doku in action overnight

Manchester City’s English contingent and Jeremy Doku were in action for their countries overnight. It’s been a busy weekend thus far for the City players on international duty.

England were held to a 1-all draw by the Ukraine. Kyle Walker and Phil Foden featured for Gareth Southgate’s squad. Walker registered his first goal for England in his 77th appearance for his country. His goal in the 41st minute cancelled out former City man Olexander Zinchenko’s opener for the Ukraine. Zinchenko had opened the scoring in the 26th minute.

Phil Foden featured off the bench replacing James Maddison in the 66th minute. The treble-winners midfielder was unable to make much of an impression on the game in his role off the bench. There had been calls for Foden to start, but once again he wasn’t in Southgate’s starting eleven. Kalvin Phillips was an unused substitute for England.

Jeremy Doku featured off the bench for Belgium in their 1-nil win over Azerbaijan. He featured for 24 minutes in the second half of Belgium’s win. It was the 15th cap of Doku’s young international career.

For Manchester City’s English contingent, their next match will be against Scotland at Hampden Park. It will be interesting to see for City fans if Foden can force his way into Gareth Southgate’s starting lineup. The match will take place on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, Doku’s next opportunity for Belgium will come in the clash with Estonia. That game will also take place on Tuesday night.
