A host of Manchester City stars have been in action for their countries over the past couple of days. With the internationals currently in action there is no rest for the City players, as most are a vital part of their countries line ups.
To start with Norway beat Jordan 6-nil in friendly. City’s star striker Erling Haaland didn’t feature for Norway in the rout. He was an unused substitute as the Norwegians went on to dominate Jordan. It is welcome news that Haaland got a break of sorts for Manchester City and their fans.
Nathan Ake featured for the Netherlands in their 3-nil European Championship qualifier win over Greece. Unfortunately, Ake was substituted at half-time with a hamstring concern. It will be a story to watch for in Holland’s next qualifier if Ake features and what condition he returns to the treble winners in.
Josko Gvardiol played the first half of Croatia’s 5-nil Euro 24 qualifier win over Latvia. The City centre half was his usual composed self at the back for the Croatians. Mateo Kovacic was an unused substitute.
Spain was also in action with a 7-1 win over Georgia. City’s midfield lynchpin Rodri got through 72 minutes in the Spanish win. He controlled midfield as Spain ran riot to clinch a massive win.
For Portugal, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias both started in their 1-nil win over Slovakia. City’s midfield star set up the Portuguese winner scored by Bruno Fernandes. Ruben Dias put in a solid performance at the back as the Portuguese kept a clean sheet.
Finally, City shot-stopper Ederson played 90 minutes for Brazil in their 5-1 win over Bolivia. It was a quiet night from Ederson as Brazil began their World Cup qualifying campaign with a bang.
There will be more City stars in action for their countries over the weekend.
