Manchester City Women Ballon d’Or nominees announced

Ballon d’Or nominees are announced this evening and three Manchester City players have been nominated.

Three City women have been included on the prestigious women’s award shortlist.

Bunny Shaw, Jill Roord and Yui Hasegawa have all had impressive seasons.

Gareth Taylor’s side did not see the success they hoped for.

Nevertheless, the players performed impressively despite major changes to the squad last summer. They were arguably in a season of transition.

Shaw could give the Nordic Meat Shield a run for his money in front of goal. She scored 31 goals in 30 games before smashing the goal-scoring record for City Women.

New signing Jill Roord has been shortlisted following an impressive season at Wolfsburg. She helped her former team win the German Cup before reaching the Champions League final. Roord joined the Blues this summer.

Hasegawa has impressed during her debut season with Manchester City. The midfielder has proven herself crucial during the transition period for Taylor’s side last season.

She scored her first goal on her debut versus Leicester and went on to see further success.

The Ballon d’Or shortlist names 30 players in total.

Manchester City will see further nominations this evening. Meanwhile, Ederson has received a nomination for the Yachine Trophy for goalkeepers.
