Jack Grealish withdraws from England squad due to injury

Jack Grealish has withdrawn from the England squad for their matches against the Ukraine and Scotland squad due to injury. The City winger missed Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Fulham with a thigh injury.

Grealish had travelled to St Georges Park with the England squad. But after being assessed by the England doctors he has been withdrawn from the squad. The news was confirmed via the Manchester City official website.

Manchester City assistant Juanma Lillo confirmed Jack’s injury post the win over Fulham. He told the media it would be hard for Grealish to be ready for international duty. When asked about the injury the winger had suffered he said: “It’s going to be difficult for Jack to make it, but I’m not a doctor and it will be difficult for me to explain.”

The injury suffered by the City star is hopefully not to serious. The champions have already lost Kevin De Bruyne until the new year. Grealish is an important part of Pep Guardiola’s side and will be needed after the international break.

Jack Grealish has so far made 4 appearances in all competitions for the treble winners this season. He put in a man-of-the-match performance during City’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. He provided the assist for Erling Haaland’s opener in the win over the Blades.

Whilst withdrawing from Gareth Southgate’s squad will no doubt be disappointing for the City winger, having Jack Grealish fit for what comes will be important for the treble winners.

The European champions return to action following the international break against West Ham at the Etihad on the 16th of September.
