Julian Alvarez has made a massive impact to begin the new season

Manchester City’s World Cup winner Julian Alvarez has made a massive impact to begin the new season. After a promising debut campaign, City’s Argentinian international has started this campaign in sparkling form.

After a debut season that saw Alvarez mainly feature as an impact player off the bench he has started all 4 Premier League games this season. With Kevin De Bruyne out with a long-term injury, City have needed their squad to step up in his absence. In his 4 starts, Alvarez has shown he is more than capable of helping fill the void.

Playing just behind Haaland up front Alvarez has shown plenty to start the new season. He has two goals and an assist to begin the new season. The movement and creativity in the pockets of space Alvarez provides are a new weapon in the treble winner’s attack. Also, the pressing he provides always puts constant pressure on opposing teams.

The partnership between Alvarez and Erling Haaland is also starting to blossom. There were signs last season of a lethal partnership developing between the pair. Haaland set up the opener for Alvarez to open the scoring against Fulham. His shot come cross allowing him to tap in for City’s opener. It was again evident in City’s third as some intricate play between the pair allowed Haaland to score City’s third and effectively end the game. The more they play together the more the partnership will develop.

After a debut season that showed plenty of promise from Julian Alvarez, this new season he is showing his more than capable of having a bigger impact.
