Official: Tommy Doyle has joined Wolves on a season long loan deal

Manchester City youngster Tommy Doyle has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan deal. Wolves also confirmed they have an option to buy the midfielder in a permanent move included in the loan deal.

The future of Tommy Doyle became an ongoing story during the summer. With Manchester City also announcing the signing of Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes this morning, spots in City’s midfield would be hard for the youngster to break into. The move to Wolves will give Doyle the chance to ply his trade in the Premier League for the first time.

After spending last season on loan at Sheffield United, Doyle had expressed his desire to test himself in the Premier League this season. Speaking with the Mirror before England’s successful UEFA Under-21’s Euro success Doyle stated: “I am not in a rush to move anywhere and leave City. The next step for me is to play Premier League football. Once I have done that for a year I’ll see where I am at.”

His loan move to Wolves now allows him to test himself in the Premier League. Prior to his loan move to the Midlands club, Doyle spent last season on loan at Sheffield United. He was a key part in their promotion from the Championship featuring 38 times for the Blades last season.

Now that Tommy Doyle has completed his move to Wolves, the next steps begin for the youngster in his promising young career.
