Official: Chelsea complete signing of Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer has officially completed his move to Chelsea it has been confirmed this morning. The news was confirmed by both clubs ahead of the transfer window closing tonight.

After graduating from the Manchester City Academy, Palmer progressed to the City first-team set-up. He was a part of last season’s treble-winning side as Manchester City conquered Europe for the first time, and secured the FA Cup along with a third successive Premier League title.

During his spell with Manchester City Palmer made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring 6 goals and contributing 2 assists.

He had started this season in good form. He scored against Arsenal in the FA Community Shield which ended 1-all. City would then go on to lose to Arsenal 5-4 in penalties. Palmer added another goal in Manchester City’s UEFA Super Cup triumph. He added a second-half equaliser as the name finished 1-all. City would go on to claim the trophy 5-4 after a penalty shootout.

After such a promising start to the season, Cole Palmer appeared set to feature more prominently for Pep Guardiola’s squad. The arrival of Jeremy Doku from Rennes meant there would be more competition for a spot on the right wing at the treble winners.

The City Academy graduate has decided to move to Chelsea after the clubs agreed to a £40 million deal plus £5 million in add-on as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester City fans thank Cole Palmer for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.
