Is the Manchester City squad complete with Matheus Nunes imminent arrival?

With the signing of Matheus Nunes edging closer is the Manchester City squad now complete?

The European champions have already had a busy summer. As it stands Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku have all arrived at the Etihad. Each player brings something different to the treble winners. Kovacic and Gvardiol have already shown the quality they each add to the City squad. Doku is yet to make his first-team debut since arriving from Rennes last week. But his attributes will be a welcome addition to the Premier League champions squad once he settles at the club.

On the departure front, it has been a big summer at the Etihad. Former captain Ilkay Gundogan departed for Barcelona after his contract expired. Along with Gundogan’s departure, the club has seen Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte depart from the first-team group. There has also been a host of youth players departing the club, most notable being the impending departure of Cole Palmer to Chelsea.

Palmer’s imminent move to Chelsea is an interesting one. The youngster had seemed poised to possibly play more with the departure of Riyad Mahrez. He had started the season well with two goals in two appearances. Palmer had sought more first-team opportunities and decided to accept Chelsea’s offer.

As it stands Oscar Bobb may be the player to fill the void left by Cole Palmer, and possibly James McAtee. Both are valued extremely highly by Manchester City and appear poised to be more involved in the first-team this campaign.

As the window draws to a close it does appear the Manchester City squad is set after a busy summer. The only possible question mark is if there is sufficient cover with Cole Palmer’s imminent move. The answer to that question won’t be known until the season progresses.
