Erling Haaland wins prestigious UEFA Men’s Player of the Year

Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland has taken out the prestigious UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award. The award was announced at the UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco this evening.

Haaland beat out teammate Kevin De Bruyne and Argentinean legend Lionel Messi to the award. It’s yet another award to cap off a historical debut season from the City number 9. It also caps off a huge week for Erling Haaland as he also collected the PFA Player of the Season earlier this week.

The UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award is yet another accolade for the City star. After scoring 52 goals in 53 games last season, Haaland has dominated the individual awards following City’s treble-winning campaign. He has so far claimed the Premier League Golden Boot, the European Golden Shoe, Premier League Player of the Season, Premier League Young Player of the Season, FWA Footballer of the Year and made the UEFA Team of the Season. It was a truly historical debut season that will remain in Manchester City fan’s memories for decades to come.

After securing the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award Erling Haaland will now be one of the favourites for the Ballon D’or. He will surely face stiff competition from Lionel Messi for the prestigious award.
