Chelsea reportedly targeting Cole Palmer as transfer window draws to a close

Chelsea are reportedly targeting Cole Palmer as a late addition to their squad as the transfer window nears closing. After spending almost £1 billion in the past three transfer windows, the Blues now see Cole Palmer as a potential signing.

Fabrizio Romano has broken the news of Chelsea’s interest in the City academy graduate. He adds that the London club intend to open talks soon with the treble winners over a potential deal for Palmer. Furthermore, he adds that Manchester City’s position on selling the young winger is unknown, but Chelsea is keen on the England youth international.

Cole Palmer’s future has been the subject of much speculation this summer. The youngster stated he was keen to play more post-City’s UEFA Super Cup triumph over Sevilla. When asked about his future post-game he answered: “I have no idea; I just want to play football. So whatever the best decision is when we speak together, that is what I will do. Obviously the best scenario is to stay at City and play but obviously you know what the competition is like, if they bring someone in – I don’t know.”

With Chelsea now reportedly targeting Cole Palmer he may have a decision to make. Stay at the European champions or move to Chelsea and battle for a spot in their bloated squad. That all depends on a deal being agreed between the two clubs, and if City would sell a talented young player to a perceived rival.
