3 wins from opening 3 games shows Manchester City are hungry for more success

3 wins to start the season shows Manchester City are hungry for even more success

3 consecutive wins to start the Premier League season have shown that Manchester City are hungry for even more success. After winning three consecutive Premier League titles, and clinching the treble last campaign, the question of if the hunger remains for City’s squad lingered heading into the new season. After starting the new Premier League season with 3 successive wins, it’s clear that the hunger remains amongst Guardiola’s squad.

Whilst not at the best to start the season, it’s clear that the motivation levels remain high amongst the squad. An opening day 3-nil win over Burnley was followed by a huge 1-nil win over potential title-chasing Newcastle United. Each of those wins showed the strength and talent possessed by the Manchester City squad.

But yesterday’s win over a plucky Sheffield United at Bramall Lane was a different type of win entirely. City dominated the game, but it appeared that they had left their finishing ability back in Manchester. Even Erling Haaland was misfiring up until his second-half opening goal. A missed penalty and an early miss in the second half were the sum of Haaland’s work until his goal. But he stepped up to fire the champions into the lead.

From there the hosts attempted to fight their way back into the game. They got an 85th-minute equalizer through Jayden Bogle after a Kyle Walker mistake gave them the chance to equalize. In years past City may have dropped points. But this side wouldn’t accept a draw. Kyle Walker was determined to make amends for his mistake, and he helped set up Rodri’s 88th-minute winner.

The will and determination to win from Manchester City were on show, and they remain the only perfect side to start the season. It’s a message to their rivals that the hunger remains after last season’s triumphs.
