All square at the break as Sheffield United frustrate the Blues

Manchester City got the game underway at Bramall Lane, while Sheffield United got off to a spritely start.

The home side were well organised early on and pressed well. Meanwhile, the Blues looked to seek control through measured possession.

City fans were in loud spirits travelling the country as Premier League Kings and European Champions.

A couple of early half chances with Alvarez and Kovacic looking fantastic.

On the quarter of the hour, Sheffield United were forced into a change as Ben Osborn was withdrawn through injury and replaced by Larouci.

Ake had the ball in the back of the net following a cross from a free-kick. However, it was ruled offside.

Nevertheless, the Blues continued to press while Alvarez made himself a living nightmare for the opposition defenders, eventually being awarded a penalty 10 minutes before half time for an Egan handball.

Haaland hit the bar and missed. His Fantasy Football owners have their heads in their hands. Sheffield United were handed a lifeline as the score remained level.

The final minutes of the first half saw plenty of frustration from City and the dark arts from the opposition defence. Still, the referee could not control the shenanigans. He distributed his first yellow to Baldock for a foul on Grealish.

While the score line was all square at the break, Manchester City are unlucky not to be ahead.

Sheffield United 0 – 0 Manchester City.
