RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo a no-go for City this window

A move for RB Leipzig’s star midfielder Dani Olmo is a no-go for Manchester City. With the treble winners in the market for a midfielder in light of Kevin De Bruyne’s injury, the Spanish international had been a reported target. Transfer correspondent Peter O’Rourke earlier reported on City’s interest in the Spanish midfielder for footballinsider247.com

Christian Falk reports in his Caught Offside column that RB Leipzig has ruled out a sale of Olmo this window. Falk adds that he spoke to former Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff who told him Dani Olmo is not for sale this window. Mintzlaff told Falk that there is no chance City or any other club will sign the Spanish international this window. In addition to reporting that Olmo isn’t for sale this summer, a release clause does come into effect next summer in Dani Olmo’s contract.

The treble winners have appeared to move on to other targets this window. Fabrizio Romano has reported that they are readying a second bid for Matheus Nunes. Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has previously been reported as a possible City target. Dom Smith and Nizaar Kinsella of the Standard report that Palace has set a £70 million asking price for Eze. It does appear that Eze will only be a target if City’s reported move for Matheus Nunes falls through.

RB Leipzig appears set to retain their star midfielders’ services this summer. With the European champions moving on to other targets any potential move for Dani Olmo’s services won’t happen until next summer.
