Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has undergone routine surgery on his back following a spell of severe pain.
He travelled to Barcelona where he was operated on by Dr Mireia Illueca. ManCity.com confirm that the surgery has been successful and he will now spend a period of recovery in Barcelona.
Guardiola’s right-hand man will step up to fill his shoes while he recovers. Lillo returned from the club this summer following a season as Head Coach in Qatar club Al Sadd.
He will hold the squads training sessions over the next couple of weeks, and feature on the touchline.
Pep has worked with Lillo for a long time, and the squad will undoubtedly be in good hands.
Guardiola is expected to return to the club following the international break. Meanwhile, the Boys in Blue will face Sheffield United away, and Fulham at the Etihad.
He will be a big miss, and the football world wishes him well.
