Kalvin Phillips linked with a shock move to Liverpool

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a shock move to Liverpool this transfer window. Reports emerged overnight that the European champions may sanction a loan deal for Phillips to get his career back on track.

Talksport has reported that Liverpool have turned their attention to a possible deal for the England international. They add that the Reds have added Phillips to their shortlist after missing out on Romeo Lavia and Moises Caceido to Chelsea over the summer. Having lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho Jurgen Klopp’s squad appears short of options in midfield. They see Kalvin Phillips as an option that may be available to them.

Kalvin Phillips is yet to make an appearance this season for the European champions. He has been named on the bench but hasn’t featured so far this season. City’s midfield general Rodri has spoken of needing a break at times after playing so much football this past season. With that in mind, it appears Phillips isn’t in Pep Guardiola’s thoughts at this time.

The England international appeared over the summer to be determined to fight for his place in Pep’s squad. As it stands currently he hasn’t been able to force himself into the City boss’s plans this far.

With reports of a potential loan deal for Phillips to reignite his career, it may appear City have a plan for the former Leeds man. Whether or not the Treble winners would sanction a move to a rival in Liverpool remains to be seen.
