Have Manchester City made a booboo with Lavia?

Manchester City have not had a bad summer transfer window so far with the additions of Kovacic and Gvardiol. Both of whom have settled in with the Blues nicely.

Moreover, the new signing of Belgian winger Jeremy Doku is likely to be announced this week.

However, the recent fixture versus Newcastle highlighted a depleted squad after Stones and Bernardo missed out to injury and illness. Meanwhile, De Bruyne is confirmed out for 4-5 months.

Even more surprisingly, the latest rumours suggest Phillips could also be loaned out this summer. The England national has failed to impress Guardiola and fans alike.

Considering the Paqueta deal fell through, outgoings of experienced players and injuries, the Blues are short in midfield. Though they are on the hunt for an alternative midfielder as reported by Rob Dawson for ESPN:

“After securing Doku, City will continue their search for a midfielder to fill the void left by Kevin De Bruyne.”

Rumours continue to circulate social media, but no legitimate links are currently shared.

Guardiola is the most inventive and innovative coach, and he will undoubtedly find a solution.

What about Lavia?

However, one must question the decision not to activate Lavia’s buy-back clause that is only available this summer.

Lavia would be a good addition to the squad. A talent who has impressed during his time at Southampton. Certainly a player that could play alongside, or for Rodri.

Manchester City will be unable to bring him back, following the announcement that he has signed for Chelsea.
