Cole Palmer put in a dazzling display for Manchester City in their UEFA Super Cup triumph over Sevilla. It has given the treble winners food for thought as links of a move for Palmer grow.
City’s academy graduate put in a man-of-the-match display for Pep Guardiola’s side. Slotting in on the right-wing Palmer was a constant threat to the Sevilla defense. He scored the equalizer for the European champions after Sevilla had taken a first-half lead.

From there the local lad grew into the game and put constant pressure on the La Liga side’s backline. Cole Palmer was named Man of the Match by UEFA after his fantastic performance.

City boss Pep Guardiola was asked about the academy graduates’ future post-game. He hinted that Palmer is likely to stay or leave on a permanent deal, with a loan move ruled out by the City manager. When asked post-game Pep said: “I don’t think a loan is going to happen. He’s going to stay at City, or he’s going to be sold.”
After a goal against Arsenal in the Community Shield, and another in the UEFA Super Cup triumph, Palmer has given City food for thought. He looks ready to play more and take the vacant right-wing position left available after Riyad Mahrez left the European champions. As the transfer window nears closing what City decide to do with Cole Palmer is a story to watch for.
