Al Nassr bid for Aymeric Laporte accepted by Manchester City

Premier League champions Manchester City have accepted a bid from Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr for defender Aymeric Laporte.

David Ornstein reporting for the Athletic has broken the news of the European champions accepting a bid for the Spanish international. In addition, Ornstein reports that the centre-back is considering a move to the Gulf state.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reports on Al Nassr’s interest in the Manchester City defender. He further reports that the Saudi side has offered an improved salary to Laporte to tempt him to move to the club. Additionally, he adds that the treble winners are open to the sale of Laporte to Al Nassr and will leave the decision up to the player.

As news breaks of Al Nassr getting close to a deal for Aymeric Laporte, it seems a decision on his future is imminent. The Spanish defender saw his playing time reduced last season for Pep Guardiola’s squad. With the arrival of Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig there will be increased competition for positions in defense.

Laporte’s potential move to the Gulf state is another story to watch for as the transfer window closes and City finalise their squad for the 23/24 season.
