Rico Lewis signs contract extension with Manchester City until 2028

Manchester City wonderkid Rico Lewis has signed a contract extension with Manchester City. The young full-back has committed to the champions on a new deal that runs until 2028.

A contract extension is a fitting reward for the youngster. He burst onto the scene last season as Manchester City went on to secure the treble. Lewis made 23 appearances in his first season with the senior side.

The young full-back has risen through the ranks at Manchester City. He joined the club when he was 8 years old and has progressed through the ranks ever since. Rico Lewis is another success story for the City Academy. He follows in Phil Foden’s footsteps as progressing through the academy set-up to earn a first-team spot.

Lewis rose to prominence as Pep Guardiola changed his tactical set-up last season. His ability to play as a traditional full-back, and as an inverted full-back became a valuable weapon for the City manager. The technical ability possessed by the youngster enables him to play a number of roles for Pep.

A bright future appears to lie ahead for Rico Lewis. With a long-term extension confirmed it will give the England youth international time to develop his game at Manchester City.
