Bernardo Silva reportedly agrees on new contract with Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has agreed on a new contract with the European champions it has been reported. Multiple sources have reported the news overnight.

Alexis Bernard of Le 10 Sport has reported the news of City’s Portuguese midfielder committing to the club. He reports the news in addition to his report that Silva would miss Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup match against Sevilla.

Duncan Castles of the Times has also broken the news of Bernardo agreeing on a new deal to remain at the Etihad. Castles broke the news via his Twitter account. He previously reported that Manchester City had no intention of selling their key man. PSG, Barcelona and Saudi club Al-Hilal had an interest in securing the City star according to ESPN.

For the past few summer transfer windows there had been multiple reports of the midfielder’s desire to leave the Etihad. As one of the key parts of Pep Guardiola’s squad, City did not want to lose his services this window. Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez have already left the champions this window. The loss of two key players, in addition to Bernardo Silva would’ve been a huge dent to the treble winner’s squad.

With reports emerging of Bernardo Silva agreeing a new contract, it seems the champions can now move onto other transfer business knowing Bernardo’s future is secure.
