Erling Haaland has picked up where he left off last season to send an ominous warning to City’s rivals as the new season kicks off.
Following a subdued performance against Arsenal in the Community Shield, the usual questions of Haaland being figured out festered.
It took only 3 minutes of the champion’s opener against Burnley for those doubters to be silenced. City’s Norwegian marksman got the champions off to the perfect start away at Turf Moor. His early goal set the tone and gave Pep Guardiola’s side the impetus to build into the game.
The second goal from Haaland was the striker at his best. After some beautiful build-up play, a layoff from Julian Alvarez teed up Haaland. Without looking at the goal, City’s Norwegian star rifled the ball past James Trafford to give City a 2-nil lead and put the game to bed. It was Haaland at his best. There aren’t any strikers better than him in those situations.
A half-time dressing down from Pep Followed as City went in at half-time with a 2-nil lead. That moment showed just how driven and determined Haaland and Pep are to defend City’s crowns this season. There will be no dropping of standards accepted by Haaland and the City squad.

After setting record after record last season, Erling Haaland has hit the ground running this campaign. If the Norwegian marksman gets anywhere near the standards set last season, City’s title rivals will have a major task on their hands to overtake the treble winners.
