Manchester City eye Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma

Manchester City have their eyes on a bid for Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma it has been reported.

Phil Thomas and Ciaran Wiseman of the Sun have reported that the Premier League champions have Brighton’s star winger on the shortlist. With the treble winners in the market for a winger City reportedly view Mitoma as a possible replacement.

Thomas and Wiseman report that a fee of £50 million will be demanded for the Japanese star from Brighton. They add that the Brighton man has two years left on his current deal with the club .

The Seagulls are notoriously tough negotiators in the transfer market. Chelsea have found this to be the case in their negotiations with Brighton for Moises Caceido. Any move for one of their most important players would have to be a sizable one for them to consider selling Mitoma.

Kaoru Mitoma was one of the key performers for Brighton in their exceptional season last campaign. He scored 10 goals and added 8 assists in 41 appearances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. He was a key contributor as the Seagulls clinched European football last season.

Mitoma’s pace and dribbling ability would make him a welcome addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. His ability to play on either wing would also give Manchester City another weapon if a move does materialize.

With the transfer window open until September 1st, Mitoma is the third winger to be linked with the treble winners. Michael Olise and Jeremy Doku are also reported targets of Manchester City as they seek to replace Mahrez in their squad.
