As the summer transfer window draws to a close, the futures of Cancelo and Laporte remain unclear.
Joao Cancelo is unlikely to play for Manchester City again, and did not feature during the Community Shield.
With Barcelona keen on the Portuguese fullback, they are unable to afford a transfer fee. A loan deal could be an option with Manchester City eager to move him on.

The Blues are also open to offers for Aymeric Laporte. Following the signing of Croatian centre-back Gvardiol, it raises questions about Laporte’s role in the squad.
Given that during the treble winning season, the French turned Spanish international fell down the pecking order, he may want to explore his options.
Despite no offers or bids for him so far, there has been interest from Premier League clubs such as Spurs and Aston Villa.
Aston Villa made Europe last season and following the appointment of Emery as Manager, they have strengthened significantly this summer.
Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano states in his CaughtOffside substack:
“There’s no clarity yet on transfer fees for both Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo as Man City seek permanent deals.”
