The Blues have released their confirmed line-up for the clash between City and Arsenal on ManCity.com.
Following City’s treble winning season when they won both the Premier League and FA Cup, their opponents will be Arsenal by default. The Gunners spent a majority of the season in top spot before succumbing to Man City.
Guardiola’s confirmed line-up:
Ortega
Edersons second in command get the call up today following an incredible debut season for the Blues. He kept clean sheets throughout the whole FA Cup campaign until a frustrating penalty in the final.
Walker (C)
With Walker named captain for today’s return, do we have a hint at where his future may be?
Stones
Johnny, Johnny Stones returns! After reports earlier in the week of a possible injury, there were some doubts about his involvement today. However, it seems the rumours were just that.
Dias
The commander in the backline. He has been crucial for the defence since his debut for City and after spending three seasons with the Blues, he is yet to lose a Premier League title.
Akanji
It seems Akanji will step in on the left. He has proven more than once that he is capable of playing across the whole backline. An excellent piece of business bringing in the Dortmund outcast.
Rodri
A position that is not often in doubt. If he’s fit and rested, he starts for the City boss. Can he put in another heroic performance today?
Kovacic
Manchester City’s new signing walks straight into a starting position following a brilliant pre-season.
Bernardo
The Portuguese steps in despite rumours of a potential departure.
Grealish
A wonderful season from “Calves Out”. Despite criticism early in his City career, he played a crucial role in one of the most successful seasons the Blues have seen in their history.
Alvarez
Guardiola has opted for some of that South American energy. The World Cup, Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup winner has an impressive trophy cabinet at such a young age.
Haaland
Of course. It couldn’t be anyone else up top. The Norwegian will want to start the season off with a bang – perhaps he could top his debut season?
