Manchester City have officially confirmed the signing of defender Josko Gvardiol. The treble winners have announced the deal after long and sometimes tense transfer negotiations with RB Leipzig.

City concluded the deal for the Croatian international this week. A fee of €90 million with no add ons clinched the deal as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

City’s new signing brings a wealth of international experience to the Etihad, despite his young age. He starred at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Croatia as they clinched a third-place finish at the World Cup. Gvardiol was one of the standout defenders of the tournament.

Gvardiol arrives at Manchester City from RB Leipzig. He centre-back made 87 appearances and scored 5 goals for the German club before securing the move to Pep Guardiola’s side. He signed for the DFB Pokal winners from Dinamo Zagreb in July 2021.
Possessing elite technical ability, on top of his defensive acumen Gvardiol shapes as the perfect defender for Pep Guardiola’s system.
