Jeremy Doku would bring something different to Manchester City

Jeremy Doku would bring something different to the Manchester City squad, should a move for the young winger materialise.

Fabrizio Romano reported overnight that the champions have the Belgian international on their shortlist of winger targets.

Currently playing for French Ligue One side Rennes, Doku has the potential to be a star of the future. He has made 90 appearances for the French club, contributing 11 goals and 10 assists in his time with the club.

Doku is a winger who can play on either side of the attack. He primarily plays on the right wing for his club. With his electric pace and direct dribbling ability, he would bring attributes to the treble winner’s squad that they currently don’t possess.

City’s current winger’s major strength is retaining possession. Keeping the ball is king in Pep Guardiola’s game plan. Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are currently the preferred wingers for Guardiola. Each is vital to how Pep’s side performs with their ability to keep the ball and offer an outlet when required. But none possess the electrifying pace that Doku would bring to the club should he sign for City.

The Belgian winger would be a throwback to the Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane type of winger. Guardiola used both with great success during their spells with the Treble winners. Doku would bring a similar element should he arrive at the Etihad.

The skills and traits Jeremy Doku possess could make him an exciting addition to the City squad.
