PSG admit defeat in bid to sign Bernardo Silva

French champions PSG have admitted defeat in their bid to sign Bernardo Silva according to reports.

City’s Portuguese star was reportedly the French giant’s primary target this window as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Alexis Bernard of Le 10 Sport reports that despite multiple offers for Bernardo, PSG have ended their pursuit of his signing. He adds that the Premier League champions have rejected two bids from the Paris club for their star man.

Bernard adds that the last bid from PSG for the midfielder was €60 million, which was rejected by Manchester City. Further to his report, he adds that the treble winners wouldn’t contemplate selling Bernardo Silva for less than €100 million.

PSG will now move on to other transfer targets after their unsuccessful pursuit of Bernardo Alexis Bernard adds.

It will be welcome news to Manchester City that PSG are seemingly ending their pursuit of their key man. After the summer departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, the champions seemingly can’t afford to lose Bernardo’s services also.

Sam Lee of the Athletic has also reported that it isn’t yet known if the midfielder will stay at the club. With PSG reportedly out of the race for his signature, the list of candidates to sign him is dwindling. Lee continues his report by adding that the Portuguese midfielder is central to City’s plans this season.

With the new season on the horizon, it appears that Bernardo Silva will be remaining with Manchester City for this upcoming season. The asking price demanded for his services and his importance to Pep Guardiola’s side point to him remaining at the club.
