West Ham were close to reaching a deal for Carlos Borges. Then enters Ajax.
The Manchester City youngster impressed during the 22/23 campaign for the EDS. Given that he was the top scorer, he helped drive them to their third successive title.
Sources close to the club confirm that wherever Borges ends up, there will be a buy-back clause inserted into the deal.
While he would get the Premier League experience with the Hammers, experience with a European club could be more attractive.

Romano with his exclusive says that Ajax have been successful in spectacularly hijacking the West Ham deal.
The Dutch club won their league twice consecutively in 2021 and 2022. However, last season Feyenoord took the Eredivisie title and Ajax now search for reinforcements to claim back their title.
Borges is due to have his medicals in Amsterdam over the coming days. As Romano says, “here we go”.
