Manchester City set to rake in over £16m from their pre-season tour of Asia

Manchester City continue to be a money making machine

The money keeps on rolling in for Manchester City. Following huge winnings from the treble season and new sponsorship deals, the Blues are raking in more this summer.

Guardiola and his squad have been on their travels this pre-season with Japan and South Korea their destinations. Not only were their endeavours (mostly) successful on the pitch, they were eye-watering off it.

It seems the Blues have a huge following in Japan and South Korea, with tens of thousands turning up to see the Boys in Blue. During the tour City faced Yokohama F. Marinos, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

While match attendances were around 60,000+, over 20,000 turned out for their open training session.

We saw fans in Tokyo singing Oasis, and heard the fans in both Japan and South Korea belting Blue Moon at the top of their lungs.

Fan favourites appeared to be Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, understandably.

However, the trip was so successful that it will bring in over $20m according to Richard Fay for the MEN.

Fay reports:

“Early estimates suggest the club generated somewhere in the region of $20million from the success of the tour, which saw unprecedented demand across both Japan and South Korea.

“The Blues expected increased demand from their previous trip to the region four years ago, but nobody was quite prepared for just how much Man City mania has swept across the region.”
