Manchester City ended their pre-season tour of Asia in defeat earlier today.
The game took place between the Blues and the feisty Atletico in Seoul following a short postponement due to poor weather conditions.
As the rain poured from the skies, one could believe that the Boys in Blue took a piece of Manchester.
There were 64,000 in attendance to see Manchester City, who have been extremely popular in Asia this summer.
Despite an entertaining 90 minutes, it was Simeone’s side who claimed the victory. They took the lead through Memphis Depay, with their second scored by Yannick Carrasco.
A consolation goal for the Blues in the 84th minute scored by Ruben Dias.
As is to be expected, the La Liga side set up to defend, soak up the pressure and looked to make the most of counterattacks and set pieces.
As a result, for the first 25 minutes of the game the Blues had a wealth of chances. However, they were unable to convert. The closest, a shot from Haaland which was saved by Oblak.
Manchester City played well in possession with Phil Foden showing quality in midfield and linking up well with those around him.
It was all square and goalless at the break.
However, a number of changes for the Blues gave Atletico some inspiration. And they took the lead around the hour through Depay.
With further opportunities for Depay, he did not convert and it was his teammate Carrasco that doubled their lead.
City pulled one back in the 84th minute through Dias, though it was too late and they took the defeat on this occasion.
