Phil Foden primed for the move into midfield

Phil Foden is primed for his move into central midfield for Manchester City.

After spending much of his career with the champions on the wing, the poster boy of Manchester City’s academy is now ready for more responsibility. This upcoming season may see Foden make the move he’s always been destined for since he arrived on the scene.

In an exclusive interview with Simon Mullock of the Mirror, the City star has spoken of the challenges ahead of his move to midfield.

The England international is ready for the challenges a midfield role holds. He told Mullock: I’ve been in a more central position during pre-season. I don’t know if it’s going to happen when the season starts. We’ll just have to see, but I’ll just try to be ready for that if it happens. I know I can play anywhere along the front, in midfield as well, just be ready for whatever the manager wants. That would mean a lot of defensive responsibilities and a lot more things to learn.”

The City star is eager for the challenge presented by playing in midfield. He added: “I’d be able to show people a lot more of what I can do. I’d be on the ball more, always involved. I think there’s a lot more responsibility in that role. If I do get the opportunity, I’ll try to do the best I can. It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to.”

Manchester City fans have waited for the time for Phil Foden to shift into midfield. It now seems that the England international is finally ready for the shift into midfield.

If Foden produces what he has on a wing for the champions in midfield, there is no telling how great he could become.
