Off the back of last season’s treble success, the champions have returned hungry to maintain last season’s level and push again for success on all fronts this season.
The City players have spoken of the level demanded by Pep Guardiola during pre-season. Guardiola is determined not to see a drop off amongst his squad.
Nathan Ake spoke about the levels demanded. He said: “The manager already picked up on that, he doesn’t want anyone slipping up or being too casual. Now it’s about us. How can we do the same again? We already saw the last few days in training, everyone still runs as hard, and I think that’s a positive.”

City’s defensive leader Ruben Dias also spoke of maintaining last season’s exceptional standards. He added: “Even though this Manchester City team has won a lot in the past few seasons, we are still hungry, and we are still here to win again and again. Actions speak louder than words. We can say all of what we want but all that matters is what we do when the games start and we are on the pitch facing the challenges we face. The mentality is there with everyone who belongs to the club.”
With the Manchester City players are aware of maintaining their high standards, Pep Guardiola is determined to make sure the squad maintains their exceptional level. If the high standards are maintained next season promises to be another exciting one for City fans following last season’s historical campaign.
