Oscar Bobb shows a glimpse of what he can bring to Manchester City

Oscar Bobb has shown a glimpse of what can bring to the Manchester City first team in the Treble winner’s Asian tour opener.

Coming on at halftime of Manchester City’s 5-3 friendly win over Yokohama F.Marinos, the young City academy graduate looked at home with his high-profile teammates.

He didn’t need long to show he belonged at the elite level. His technical ability and range of passing were on show as soon as he arrived on the pitch. The youngster linked the play well playing out wide on the right, his link-up play with Joao Cancelo a highlight.

Speaking with the media post-game, Bobb was asked if he played well, which he surprisingly didn’t think he did. City’s young playmaker did add he was keen on more first-team opportunities: “Well not really, not today. But keep going, keep training and new opportunities will come.”

His manager Pep Guardiola on the other hand, was very impressed with what he saw from the playmaker. When asked about Bobb’s performance, the City boss answered: “Oscar made an incredible season for the second team last season. He played unbelievable today. He can play 3-4 positions as well.”

With friendlies to come against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, those games will give the talented youngster more opportunities to impress. With the impressive performance in the champion’s Asian tour opener, Bobb has laid a solid platform to stake a claim for a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the upcoming season.
