Manchester City are expecting an improved offer for Mahrez, Jones also reports.
Sam Lee of the Athletic has reported that Manchester City are interested in signing a replacement winger if Mahrez departs the club. He adds that the treble winners were aware that Mahrez could leave the club, and have made plans accordingly.
City looking for a winger in case Mahrez moves to Al Ahly, which now appears close. City also really pushing for Bernardo to stay (replacing him and Ilkay Gundogan in midfield would be extremely difficult) @theathleticfc https://t.co/ivKNGLEsUX

As it stands there are no links to any players in line to replace the Algerian international.
Riyad Mahrez appears close to leaving Manchester City, with Al-Ahli expected to return with an improved offer. As personal terms are already said to be agreed between Mahrez and Al-Ahli, only a fee being agreed between the clubs stands in the way of the deal being completed.
