Manchester City reject Al-Ahli’s opening bid for Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City have rejected Al-Ahli’s opening bid for Riyad Mahrez according to reports.

Simon Jones for the Daily Mail reports that the Saudi club have seen their opening offer of £18 million rejected for the City winger.

Manchester City are expecting an improved offer for Mahrez, Jones also reports.

Sam Lee of the Athletic has reported that Manchester City are interested in signing a replacement winger if Mahrez departs the club. He adds that the treble winners were aware that Mahrez could leave the club, and have made plans accordingly.

As it stands there are no links to any players in line to replace the Algerian international.

Riyad Mahrez appears close to leaving Manchester City, with Al-Ahli expected to return with an improved offer. As personal terms are already said to be agreed between Mahrez and Al-Ahli, only a fee being agreed between the clubs stands in the way of the deal being completed.
