Manchester City keeper James Trafford set for Burnley medical

Manchester City’s goalkeeper James Trafford is set for his medical with Burnley ahead of his move to the Clarets.

Pete O’Rourke of footballinsider247.com reports that the City youngster is set to undergo his medical in the coming days. He also reports that the deal for the young goalkeeper will be for an initial £15 million, possibly rising to £19 million with add-ons. Trafford’s former club Carlisle United are due 15% of any fee Manchester City receive.

The potential move to Burnley caps a successful 12 months for Trafford. He was a star for England in their recent European Under 21 Championship win. He didn’t concede a goal in 6 games as England took home the silverware. His double save right at the death against Spain clinched England the title.

He also had a successful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers last season that laid the platform for his move to the newly promoted club.

Trafford will be vying for the number one spot between the sticks with another former City keeper. Arijanet Muric is currently the incumbent number one keeper for Burnley having joined the club from City 12 months ago.

With a move to Vincent Kompany’s side almost complete, it will provide James Trafford with the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League.
