Would Benjamin Pavard be a good signing for Manchester City?

Following reports from Nathan Gissing of DiMarzio that Kyle Walker has agreed a move to Bayern Munich, Manchester City have been linked with a move for Benjamin Pavard. Would the Frenchman be a good signing for the Treble winners?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that City have an interest in a move for the French international. At this stage, the move seems dependent on if Walker stays with the champions or moves to the German giants.

Pavard would bring a wealth of experience to the Etihad. He is a French international with 47 caps for his country. The Frenchman was a part of their World Cup-winning side in 2018, and a part of their squad that finished as runners-up in 2022. He comes with an enormous international pedigree.

During his time at Bayern Munich, he has been a serial winner. He’s been a part of 4 Bundesliga title wins, a UEFA Champions League title in 2020 and is a winner of the DFB Pokal, also in 2020. He would bring a winning mentality to the champions if a move eventuates.

On the pitch, Pavard has primarily played as a right-back for the German champions. He can play as a centre-back also. With Guardiola’s tactics shifting away from the traditional fullbacks, Pavard’s versatility could be an asset. He is known for his spectacular goals, his poise in possession and a stand-out passing ability. Those attributes are a prerequisite to play in any Pep Guardiola side. If signed by City his ability would fit right into the Champions’ set up.

If a deal for Pavard is completed, he could become a shrewd signing for Manchester City, following from the success of Manuel Akanji’s signing last summer.
